Position Summary 

Responsible for supporting the Chief Credit Officer in the management, direction and control of the loan activities of the Bank in the areas of underwriting, financial analysis, and portfolio management. Assist the Chief Credit Officer in meeting loan growth and loan quality goals.  

Essential Requirements, Duties, and Responsibilities 

  1. Directs the daily underwriting activities of the Bank, including supervision of the Credit Analysts, with an emphasis on guiding the team to support the daily management of the portfolio, including delivery of high quality credit presentations for commercial lending approvals and effective coordination of pre-closing loan activities.
  2. Provides ongoing leadership to direct reports including training, staff development, mentoring, performance reviews, and evaluation of department needs.
  3. Provides guidance to loan underwriting and structuring of credit.
  4. Participates in existing and prospective client meetings as requested.
  5. Build relationships with lending personnel to facilitate effective working relationships between credit administration and production. Provide timely and effective responses to servicing needs.
  6. Reviews underwriting requests for compliance with Bank underwriting guidelines, Bank policy and regulatory requirements.
  7. Perform independent, in-depth, credit and loan underwriting packages for use by Loan Officers or Committees in making lending decisions on a new, renewal or extension loan basis.
  8. When needed, provides information, guidance and direction regarding credit policy, credit goals and current credit issues to Chief Credit Officer.
  9. Supports the Bank's established lending goals while maintaining desired asset quality levels.
  10. Works with the Chief Credit Officer, Loan Review and the Workout Department to identify potential problem credits and identify/implement strategies to minimize losses.
  11. Develops, implements, and manages portfolio monitoring systems and activities to protect the quality of the loan portfolio. Interacts with lending personnel to determine appropriate actions and/or resolutions to ensure adherence to appropriate risk management practices and established portfolio metrics.
  12. Responsible for the oversight of a variety of administrative and reporting functions, including Board reports and supporting documentation, ALLL documentation, Portfolio Stress Testing and various other internal management/monitoring reports.
  13. Participate in bank and community events.
  14. Assists with oversight of relationships with vendors and systems as they relate to the department.
  15. Responsible for understanding the Bank's BSA/AML Policy, including satisfactory completion of required annual BSA/AML training as applicable to position and appropriately applying this knowledge to daily activities and responsibilities, specifically understanding that any suspicious activity must be reported to the BSA Officer immediately.

Educational & Other Requirements 

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field required.
  2. Minimum of seven years of commercial credit analysis.
  3. Experience in staff management as well as team leadership, training and mentoring.
  4. In-depth knowledge of financial analysis, loan structuring, and problem credit resolution.
  5. Ability to make sound credit decisions independently.
  6. Demonstrated proficiency in all facets of commercial credit underwriting.
  7. Excellent written and verbal (face to face and phone) communication skills
  8. Strong, well developed interpersonal skills.
  9. Ability to interact effectively and communicate with clients, co-workers and other bank employees.
  10. Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external clients.
  11. Ability to work in a team environment
  12. Think critically and accurately communicate results of analysis in writing.
  13. Highly developed analytical skills.

  20. Must be able to travel throughout the Bank's service area to provide support to commercial loan staff as needed.
  21. Computer literacy, specifically with Microsoft Office products.
  22. Must be bondable.
